Eilert Asmervik (*1997, Trondheim, NOR) is a multidisciplinary artist living and working in Graz and Paris,
operating on a broad spectrum, with an expansive approach to merrge musicalities of Image, Counter-Image and Sound-Image- a harmonising of visual arts disciplines with sound creation logos, often in collaborative and experimental frameworks in a pro-accessibility tone.
After two years studying music in Sweden, Asmervik pursued fine arts at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna under Prof. Daniel Richter, with exchanges at the Beaux-Arts de Paris and the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf. His works have been exhibited internationally at venues such as Forum Stadtpark (Graz), Camera Austria (Graz), Tutu Gallery (New York), Fondazione Giuliani (Rome), and Sophie Tappeiner (Vienna). His projects have garnered critical attention in Der Standard and Die Presse.
Asmervik is co-founder and co-director of InterStar International, a fluid, nomadic experimental platform challenging artistic norms. Notable projects include Café Dasein, a hybrid exhibition and social experiment at No Institute (Vienna, 2024), and a guerrilla pop-up in the Secession Garden (Vienna, 2022). Under the InterStar Verlag imprint, he has self-published numerous zines internationally and released the two-part publication series Kette von Bild und Aber-Bild, launched at Printed Matter (NYC, 2022) and No Institute (Vienna, 2024).
Asmervik’s practice is thoroughly intertwined with publishing. The book-format of his collaboration with Anaïs Horn, How Do You Feel About “Lou”?, was published by Meta/Books and presented at several occasion, notably Rencontres d’Arles (2021) and as a guest lecture with Horn at Parsons New School of Photography (NYC, 2021).
This multifaceted work exemplifies a commitment to a musicality across discipline-boundaries, blending artistic forms, and fostering communal, collaborative art spaces.
